Manchester Supported Living Service Rated ‘Outstanding’ by CQC!

We are delighted to announce that we have received an ‘Outstanding’ rating in a recent inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for Brownley Road, one of our supported living services in Manchester for autistic individuals and individuals with a learning disability.
Only 4% of adult social care providers had received an Outstanding rating in August 2024 (Appendix: CQC ratings charts – Care Quality Commission). Brownley Road was rated ‘Good’ in 2018 so the new rating of Outstanding is a fantastic achievement for our compassionate and dedicated staff team.
As well as an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’, Brownley Road received ‘Outstanding’ in ‘Caring’, with an amazing 100% score. The report talked about the warm, respectful and dignified interactions between people and their staff team. The report notes: “Staff were regarded as guests in people’s homes, as they were kind and compassionate, and people really enjoyed their company. Someone told us how they regularly asked about their family and offered thoughtful advice when needed, which made them feel reassured.”
The service also achieved ‘Outstanding’ for being ‘Well Led’, with a score of 89%. The report found that there was a “strong leadership team who supported staff to consistently deliver outstanding, person-centred care” and that “the provider had a very clear shared vision, strategy and culture. This was based on transparency, equity, equality and human rights, diversity and inclusion, engagement, and an exceptional understanding of the challenges and the needs of people and their communities.”
Maria Tobin, Registered Manager, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this outcome. It really reflects the hard work and dedication of our wonderful staff team. The culture we have is absolutely one that creates a welcoming, warm home for the people we support.”
Karen Knapton, CQC Deputy Director of Operations in the North, said: “Leaders and staff at Creative Support – Brownley Road should be very proud of the findings of this report. It’s clear staff were committed to treating people as individuals and empowering them to achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives. Other services should look to this report to see if there’s anything to learn from it.”
