Support Worker
We are looking for respectful, warm and enthusiastic Support Workers to join our innovative and inclusive Social Inclusion and Recovery Service in Blackburn with Darwen, Lancashire. The role involves providing person-centred support, case work and activity facilitation to people who have mental health needs and other needs who are at risk of social exclusion.
As a Support Worker you will:
- Work with individuals using the recovery model
 - Provide a holistic approach to supporting individuals (1:1 and in groups)
 - Develop and sustain professional, warm and trusting relationships
 - Ensure social inclusion
 - Help with housing and tenancy related needs
 - Support people to develop daily living skills and to move on to more independent living
 - Carry out general administrative duties linked to their care and support and the needs of the service
 - Drive forward development work and liaise with external agencies and businesses to provide activities for the people we support
 
Paid or unpaid experience of supporting people with mental health needs is essential for this Support Worker role. You must demonstrate a truly caring, compassionate and empathic approach, and a solution focused and ‘can-do’ attitude. You will have person-centred values; actively listen to the people we support and ensure their voice is heard. You will have a strong work ethic and commitment to the highest standards and duty of care and contribute to the strong, inclusive, and positive energy that exists in our established Blackburn with Darwen team. The service runs predominantly Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, however you will be committed to working flexibly, and be able to work some evening and weekends as required, based on the needs of the service, the people we support and the activities and opportunities they want to participate in. You must have a full clean driving licence and access to a car.
