‘I feel listened to, respected and valued’

‘I feel listened to, respected and valued’

Everyone deserves to feel listened to, respected and valued. That’s why the theme this month is to reflect on what people around you can do to make you feel most understood.

The second journal in our series will help you to explore what feeling listened to, respected, and valued means to you.

You may notice staff and people important to you always listen when you have something to say. It might be as simple and people saying their ‘please’ and ‘thank yous’. Or it may be more subtle – like laughing with you, supporting you to do activities that you like, understanding how you’re feeling before you even need to say it, and checking in to make sure you’re okay.

The key to this month’s theme is to think about what makes a good listener and what makes you feel respected and valued. Knowing what people around you can do to enable this will support you to have meaningful and healthy relationships with them.

This month, we are holding a workshop in Wakefield on the 19th February to engage people in the journals and do some creative bracelet-making. If you’d like to take part, you can email social.valueteam@creativesupport.co.uk
