‘I enjoy choices and rights and have control over my life’
Human rights are a set of rules that protect people and keep them safe. Everyone has human rights, no matter who they are. This month, we wanted to highlight the importance of people enjoying choices, rights and control over their everyday life. You can think about the types of choices you make every day and learn more about your rights and what it means to have control over your life.
Creative Support has a responsibility to respect, protect and fulfill your human rights. It’s our duty to always make sure you are treated with kindness, dignity and respect.
We should all feel free to make choices about our own lives. They can be small choices like what to have for breakfast, or big choices like where to go on holiday. It’s also important to reflect on what control you have over important areas in your life – like decisions over finances, your health, and relationships you want to have. What matters is that decisions over your life should be made by you as much as possible, because you are the one who is living it!
You can always speak up if something doesn’t feel right. Knowing your rights can positively impact your life so use this journal to support you to learn and reflect on how you can feel empowered to live your best life.
This month, we are holding a workshop in Dudley on the 20th March to engage people in the journals and take part in a Human Rights workshop where people participating will receive a certificate. If you’d like to join in on this event, you can email social.valueteam@creativesupport.co.uk
