Black History Month 2026
October marks Black History Month, and this year there are so many things for people in the Creative Support community to get involved with.
Over the past month, we have invited Black people we support, staff, and volunteers to share their artwork, poetry, cultural attire, treasured items, memories and more with us. These meaningful pieces will be on display at our special Black History Month Cultural Exhibition, and we invite people we support, staff, and volunteers of all races to join us for the Launch Event:
Black History Month Cultural Exhibition Launch Event
1pm – 7pm
Wednesday 21st October
Creative Together, Swan Street, Manchester, M45JW
This exhibition will showcase the cultures, stories, and traditions of Black people across Creative Support. It is a representation of Black cultures from across the world, and celebrates the richness and diversity of Black experiences. If you’d like to attend, book your place here.

As part of the exhibition, we’re co-creating a sculpture that ties to this year’s Black History Month theme – ‘Honouring our Community’. We invite all staff, people we support and volunteers to help create this sculpture, by coming to one of our weekly creative drop-in sessions. Sessions take place every Tuesday until the exhibition, from 10:30am – 12:30pm, at Creative Together. No creative experience is needed, just turn up on the day and we will support you to get involved.
The sculpture will be displayed during the cultural exhibition. We are excited to share the hard work and experiences of everyone involved!

We are also inviting people from across the Creative Support community to share your Black History Month celebrations with us. If you are hosting an event in your service, or would like to share your story and lived experience this month or any, we would love to hear from you.
Don’t forget our friendly EDI Team are available year round to provide support, advocacy, and information to people across Creative Support. If you would like to reach out to Kizzy or Akeisha, please email EDI@creativesupport.co.uk
