Creative Stars – June Winners!
Congratulations to our latest round of Creative Stars winners!
Our awards for the people we support celebrate the people who shine brightly and do wonderful things for each other. We have four exciting category winners, who will receive a badge, £30 Love2Shop voucher and a certificate.
This month’s round of winners are:
High Flyer Award – Martin D, Blackpool
Martin has recently discovered a passion for photography resulting in some absolutely fantastic prints of his local landscape in Blackpool. His journey to trying this new activity is incredibly inspiring, overcoming many challenges on the way and now proudly feeling like a fully-fledged photographer.
With his newfound confidence, Martin is pursuing even more new hobbies, like baking, with some delicious results. Well done Martin, we can’t wait to see what you get up to next and we’re sure you’ll continue being a true high flyer!
Eco-friendly Award – Naomi, Blackpool
Thanks to all of her hard work, the garden at Naomi’s service is absolutely thriving, brimming full of beautiful flowers and plants. Naomi takes great care in planning exactly what is needed for the garden and went with staff to personally pick all of the plants which helped brighten the space with some lovely greenery.
Taking the lead on pulling all the weeds and watering every day, the care and attention Naomi gives to the garden is wonderful. She can often be found spending time there watching the bees and butterflies, in the peaceful area she has created. You should be so proud Naomi, keep up the excellent work!
Positivity Award – Barrie Coyle, Jarrow
Barrie has overcome some health challenges recently but this is definitely not holding him back. Excited to try new activities, Barrie has worked really hard on building his confidence and now enjoys many fun outings with his support staff. He especially loves ten pin bowling, often winning every game!
Barrie’s strength and determination are amazing and everyone is so proud of how positive he has remained despite facing some difficult moments. We hope you continue doing what you love, Barrie, you’re an inspiration!
Community Champion Award – Julian Wilks, Barnsley
Julian’s dedication, friendly nature, and love of caring for others makes him a thoroughly deserving winner of our Community Champion Award. Devoting much of his time to volunteering as a greeter in his service, Julian makes everyone feel welcome the moment they meet him. He patiently explains directions, helps people feel at ease in the building and even shares feedback with staff, all very important actions which help create a safe, respectful community.
Julian is particularly brilliant at helping residents who have dementia. He is compassionate and selfless, always providing support where he can. Thank you, Julian, for everything you do for your community!

Host a panel
Creative Stars are judged by people we support, and you can take part by hosting a judging panel for one of the monthly rounds.
Holding a judging panel at your service is a great way to have your say and find out about all the amazing achievements of people we support across the country.
We will send you all the nominations, guidance and some special merchandise to say thank you.

Nominations can be submitted by staff, volunteers, people we support and family members.
Our next round will close on the 31st July so please submit before this date.
