Creative Stars – May Winners!
Congratulations to our latest round of Creative Stars winners!
Our awards for the people we support celebrate the people who shine brightly and do wonderful things for each other. We have four exciting category winners, who will receive a badge, £30 Love2Shop voucher and a certificate.
This month’s round of winners are:
High Flyer Award – Katie J, Market Harborough
Growing her confidence, Katie has taken full charge of her own support and taken part in a wide range of activities that bring her joy! She has enthusiastically pursued new interests and turned her hand to crafts like woodwork and pottery. More recently, Katie stepped into the world of performance arts, taking on the role of ‘Frenchy’ in an adaptation of Grease at the day centre she attends!
Katie, you’re an inspiration and we can’t wait to hear what you get up to next. Congratulations on being this month’s High Flyer – keep flying high!
Eco-friendly Award – Benjamin Shelley, Worcestershire
Benjamin’s love for nature makes him a true Eco-Friendly warrior. Throughout the year, Benjamin regularly feeds the birds from his window and always provides them with various sources of food. His interest has inspired him to research their welfare and learn how best to support them in their natural environment. Using this knowledge, Benjamin has additionally installed bird boxes throughout his garden with a wide variety of nesting materials.
Benjamin also visits his local lake, where he feeds ducks, swans, and other waterfowl by hand. He engages positively with members of the public during these visits and safely encourages children who may feel nervous about feeding the birds. Well done Benjamin, your care for local wildlife is truly admirable!
Positivity Award – James, Rochdale
James is known amongst his peers for his happy and outgoing personality, with his positivity lighting up every room he enters. He loves spending time out and about with staff, discovering new places, and has recently enjoyed visits to the Trafford Centre, the museum and the aquarium. He also loves swimming and has become a well-known visitor at his local leisure centre! If he’s not singing along to his favourite band, Steps, James can often be found chatting and brightening someone’s day with his friendly and polite nature.
Those who spend time with James often finish the day feeling uplifted by his infectious enthusiasm and positive outlook on life. He is a credit to everyone around him and a truly deserving winner of this month’s Positivity Award!
Community Champion Award – Thomas Turton, Doncaster
Thomas has flourished through his dedication to gardening, using it as an opportunity to develop new skills and get more involved within his local community.
After helping to transform his outdoor space, Thomas proudly shared his gardening achievements during a visit to a local flower shop. The staff were so impressed by his enthusiasm that they invited him to volunteer there each week! Thomas now helps care for the plants every Tuesday, which has been incredibly fulfilling and given him a huge boost in confidence. Everyone is incredibly proud of Thomas for saying yes to new experiences and making the most of every opportunity that comes his way!
