Creative Stars – April Winners!
Congratulations to our latest round of Creative Stars winners!
Our awards for the people we support celebrate the people who shine brightly and do wonderful things for each other. We have four exciting category winners, who will receive a badge, £30 Love2Shop voucher and a certificate.
This month’s round of winners are:
High Flyer Award – Bev Williamson, Wakefield
Congratulations to Bev, our High Flyer Award winner! Bev has made amazing progress with her confidence and independence. After previously avoiding buses, she now regularly travels by bus, enjoys chatting to others and has even started saving towards a holiday to Egypt with the money she’s saved!
Bev has also worked hard to organise her home, donate items to charity and stay involved in recycling. She takes real pride in her achievements and continues to find ways to improve her independence and wellbeing every day. A very deserving winner!
Eco-friendly Award – Michelle Flynn, Middlesbrough
Michelle’s love for nature has lead to her own thriving vegetable garden, where she has grown a wide variety of vegetables, fruit and herbs that she proudly uses in her meals and shares with family and staff.
Michelle also enjoys foraging, caring for birds and spending time outdoors. Her passion has even inspired her family to start gardening themselves!
On top of this, Michelle has been celebrating other achievements, including travelling by train for the first time and visiting places further afield. Her progress and transformation have been incredible to see. Well done, Michelle!
Positivity Award – Derek G, Staffordshire
Derek is always full of energy and brings positivity wherever he goes. He has a great sense of humour, makes staff laugh every day and finds genuine joy in the simple things – whether that’s a bus ride into town, a walk around the local park or dancing at the Thursday disco!
Derek also loves chatting to people in the community and is always keen to make others smile.
Derek has continued to be a warm, uplifting presence within his home and is a positive influence on everyone around him!
Community Champion Award – Paul Wiltshire, St Helens
Our Community Champion this month is Paul Wiltshire from Staffordshire. When Paul saw a person fall over in the street outside his service, he immediately leapt into action. He supported the man to get up off the floor, brought over a chair and supported him to sit down while he checked him over for bruises. Paul alerted a neighbour who lived at the service next door where the person was from, and the pair called an ambulance.
The next day, Paul went over and checked on his neighbour to make sure he was okay. Staff are so proud of Paul and his ability to manage such a serious, stressful incident, while also providing empathy and reassurance. Thank you for being a good neighbour Paul, and congratulations on being this month’s Community Champion!
