We Care Award Winners!

Thank you so much to everyone who submitted a We Care Award nomination. We are delighted to announce the winners of our latest round of awards, as chosen by our panel.

These awards recognise the people and teams who personify our ‘We Care’ values (Welcoming, Empowering, Compassionate, Aspirational, Respectful, Effective), and have delivered positive outcomes.

Congratulations to all of our most recent winners:

Gold Award

375 Heysham Road Staff Team – Morecambe

The staff team at 375 recently delivered truly exceptional end of life care for two of their much-loved residents. During this difficult time, the team were incredible at navigating the people’s medical needs, the input of external bodies, and the ongoing care of their other residents. Staff came together and the days were managed in a dignified, respectful and peaceful manner, with both residents surrounded by kindness and love.

Following the passing of both residents, the team received profound appreciation from friends, family and external professionals for the outstanding care they delivered at such a poignant and important time.

Silver Award

Leah Stewart, Project Manager – Tyne and Wear

Leah’s ability to empower the people she supports is truly worthy of recognition. Her team recently identified that some of the residents at her service were having difficulty understanding their fire safety procedure, sparking an idea for a co-produced video. Leah’s compassion, patience and encouragement were instrumental in creating a fantastic final product, which helped engage people in a creative and interesting way in an important process.

Throughout the filming process, Leah quizzed residents and supported them to take part with praise. The joy each person experienced while making the video shines through the screen, and everyone should be so proud of their hard work.

Nia Poxton and Paige Worley, Support Workers – Barnsley

During a recent emergency, Nia and Paige went above and beyond to help a person they support. They swiftly identified the issue and then sought medical attention for further help. Their conduct was ‘exemplary’, as they reassured the person and helped keep his spirits high while they stayed by his side.

The person’s family member was so impressed by the support their loved one received, expressing how wonderful it is to know he is in such “safe and capable hands.”
