‘I am supported to feel safe’

‘I am supported to feel safe’

Safety comes in different forms and this journal will help you explore what safety means to you. The journal will help you think about when you feel most safe and ways to maintain this, including what steps you and your support workers can take to make you feel safe as much as possible.

There are four types of safety to think about, these are:

  • Physical Safety – Feeling protected from harm or danger, having a secure space, reliable shelter and physical comfort
  • Social Safety – Feeling accepted, valued, and respected to express yourself freely
  • Psychological Safety – Feeling mentally and emotionally supported to explore ideas and make mistakes without fear of criticism or shame
  • Digital Safety – Feeling safe when speaking to strangers online, making sure personal details stay private and not sharing information about yourself

Creative Support has many resources available to support you to feel safe. We have safeguarding workshops and awareness weeks, as well as training courses on online safety and ways to spot things like ‘matecrime’.

It’s our duty as a support provider to do everything we can to keep you safe. Each staff member follows the SAFER code which helps them protect you, respect your choices, and treat you with dignity.

This month, our Engagement Workshop is taking place in South Shields, North East on Wednesday 22nd April. Participants will have the opportunity to fill out the themed journal, enjoy some tasty snacks, and have a safety talk from the local Police and Fire services!  If you’d like to join in or learn more about this event, you can email social.valueteam@creativesupport.co.uk.
