Creative Stars – February Winners!
Congratulations to our latest round of Creative Stars winners!
Our awards for the people we support celebrate the people who shine brightly and do wonderful things for each other. We have four exciting category winners, who will receive a badge, £30 Love2Shop voucher and a certificate.
Congratulations to this month’s round of winners:
High Flyer Award – James Connor, Essex
Over the past year, James has developed his communication skills using Talking Mats, a visual tool that allows him to express his thoughts and feelings. This has helped him grow in confidence and share his voice more openly in conversations.
Through this, James has co-produced staff training sessions, helping others to better understand how to communicate with him. He also showed incredible courage and self-belief by confidently delivering a presentation to a group of professionals!
James’ journey is such a brilliant example of overcoming challenges and using his experiences to support others. He is so well deserving of recognition.
Eco-friendly Award – Martyn Green, Bedford
Our Eco-Friendly winner Martyn stands out as a recycling legend at his home in Bedford. He makes every effort to ensure recycling is done correctly and kindly encourages people to do the same!
Martyn also has a knack for switching off lights and electrical appliances when they’re not in use, helping to reduce unnecessary energy waste.
His positive attitude and commitment to the environment inspires everyone around him to be more mindful.
Positivity Award – Derek P, South Tyneside
Over recent months, Derek has shown amazing resilience, approaching challenges with a positive attitude and never allowing himself to feel discouraged. Even during periods of ill health, he remained optimistic and kept in touch with staff and peers.
Whilst recovering, Derek continued to get involved in meetings, activities and events, while maintaining his role as an officer for a local charity. He continues to focus on his wellbeing and personal progress, while also regularly checking in on others and bringing kindness, humour and joy wherever he goes. Derek’s positive spirit and ability to uplift those around him are truly inspiring!
Community Champion Award – Lucy, Bedford
Lucy is a fantastic example of a Community Champion, making wonderful progress in building her confidence and taking meaningful steps into her local community.
Joining a weekly social club has been a huge milestone for Lucy, and she has truly embraced the opportunity to meet new people, build friendships and enjoy new experiences.
She has grown in confidence each week, and now even attends independently – such an incredible achievement that shows just how far she has come!

Creative Stars are judged by people we support, and you can take part by hosting a judging panel for one of the monthly rounds.
Holding a judging panel at your service is a great way to have your say and find out about all the amazing achievements of people we support across the country.
We will send you all the nominations, guidance and some special merchandise to say thank you.

Nominations can be submitted by staff, volunteers, people we support and family members.
