Student Placement; “One of the Best Experiences”

“Working at Creative Support has been one of the best experiences I could have asked for.”

Undertaking a student placement with Creative Support is a great way to gain new experiences and kick-start your rewarding career in care. Bonnie in the West Midlands has recently completed her Student Social Worker placement with us, and can certainly attest to that! Bonnie has shared her words of wisdom for anyone who is considering a placement.

“Creative Support’s core values are person-centred practices and promoting people’s independence and inclusion,” she said. “I honestly believe this suits the organisation perfectly, as what I have witnessed is genuine care towards service users, where their needs and support are completely tailored to them.”

“Working for Creative Support as a nervous Student Social Worker on my first placement has genuinely made me so confident. The staff team I worked with have been so genuine and supportive, and I am never afraid to ask them questions. I feel so valued in the team. Every day I picked up new experiences as every day is so different.”

“The service users I worked with have been amazing and bring a smile to my face every day. I feel like I have been given such an amazing experience working with a variety of different people, and I have developed professional relationships with everyone. I never thought I would have such direct experience with people we support, but doing so has made me so much more confident in my practice.”

“I think my biggest worry about going into the placement was getting along with and having a supportive on-site supervisor, but I can honestly say I felt so lucky to have Ingrid. The experiences she’s given me and the support I’ve received from her has been incredible. She always made me feel part of the team, and witnessing such good practice is extremely motivating. The love each service user has for Ingrid is so evident, and her relationships with each person individually is amazing.”

“The first impression I had of Director Jonathan was how enthusiastic and passionate he is about his job, how well he treats his staff and, most importantly, how much he cares about the people he supports. You can really see the empathy he has towards his staff and service users, and I think this makes for a really healthy work environment. I felt lucky to work with someone like Jonathan.”

“My genuine advice to anyone who is thinking about doing a placement with Creative Support is that you should go for it. The skills and experience you will pick up is incredible, and I feel so lucky that I have been with an organisation with such amazing values, which I will subsequently take further into my practice.”

“I will be genuinely sad to leave such an amazing organisation. I’ve loved it so much that I plan to apply for a Bank position when I’m back at university, as I would like to continue my journey with Creative Support.”
