Introduction to Black History Month

October in the UK marks Black History Month, a time to acknowledge and reflect on the many contributions, achievements and untold stories of Black people throughout history. This month also gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate, listen to and learn from the diverse experiences of Black people in the UK and across the world.

We are so excited to celebrate Black History Month with you, and share information and resources to deepen our understanding and appreciation of our Black colleagues, people we support, and beyond. Our aim for this month is to shout loud about Black excellence, highlight topics you might not be aware of, and continue to increase awareness of the societal issues that Black people can face.

We are co-creating a newsletter full of information on topics chosen by our incredible Anti-Racism Network which you don’t want to miss, so keep your eyes peeled for this! We will be including articles from service users and staff on subjects such as Black excellence in sport and healthcare, the history of Black History Month, and much more.

We will be sharing lots of our Black History Month related articles on our social media platforms too, so make sure you’re following us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
