Intro to Raising Awareness Week

Intro to Raising Awareness Week

This week we’ll be raising awareness of some conditions and sharing information and resources about them. Over the past couple of decades there has been a push for better understanding and support of mental conditions and disorders, but some haven’t had as much visibility or research as others. We hope that by sharing truthful information about some of these conditions and disorders, including how people actually experience and live with them, it can help to dispel some misconceptions and have a better understanding of them and each other.

Approximately one in four people will experience mental illness each year. Mental illness affects us all in some way, be it yourself, someone you support, a friend, or a family member. It’s important to learn more about conditions as myths out there can skew our ideas and understanding of them without it being true. It’s also important to remember that while mental health doesn’t define people, it’s a part of who they are, and in order to better support and appreciate each other, staying informed is a huge part of the process. It’s also important to know that if your life has been touched by mental illness in some way that you are not alone, that you will be supported, and that you are loved.

Throughout this week, we’ll be focussing on OCD, ADHD, Eating Disorders, and Personality Disorders. Every day, we’ll post a new article about each, including more information about them, their symptoms, and common misconceptions which we’ll be debunking and explaining. We hope you find the information interesting and helpful, and that we can all use it to better understand and support the incredible people in our community and beyond.

If you would like to get involved, then we’d love to hear from you! Please send us an email with your idea of how you’d like to contribute to marketing.department@creativesupport.co.uk.
