The Environment

Creative Support is committed to working in an environmentally sensitive and responsible way. We believe that sound environmental practice benefits service users, staff and local and global communities; that by aiming towards sustainable development practices we can help to meet ‘the need of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’ (Brundtland Report: Our Common Future. World Commission on Environment and Development, 1987).

It is Creative Support’s policy to provide services in such a way as to cause as little damage as possible to the environment. Creative Support is therefore committed to the prevention of pollution and we assess the environmental effects of our services and operations with the aim of controlling and reducing to a minimum any environmental impact we may have.

As a provider of community support and supported living services with multiple project sites, a head office in Manchester and approximately 5,600 employees, our main objectives relate to efficient use of resources, reduction of general waste and, in our administrative offices, stationery waste, alongside the efficient use of energy in all buildings and in relation to transport.

Creative Support works to conserve non renewable resources, to reduce waste products and to avoid the use of products which are non-recyclable or non bio-degradeable. We work to recycle as much of the waste we produce as possible and ensure that all waste generated by our services, administration and management are disposed of correctly.

Creative Support recognises that whilst working in service users’ homes, it is the choice of the service user as to how they wish to run their home. Staff will, however, provide information on local recycling initiatives, rubbish disposal and recycling within households and actively promote participation in such schemes.
