Mind Matters – Supporting Mental Health Conversations
October is mental health month at Creative Support, an opportunity for us to encourage service users and staff to talk about their mental health and wellbeing.
Mental health problems represent the single largest cause of disability in the UK. People in all walks of life can be affected at any point in their lives. At Creative Support, we want everyone to feel that they can be open about their mental health and ask for support as and when they need it.
Throughout October we will be promoting a number of campaigns and initiatives around Mental Health. This week we are launching our Tea and Talk campaign.
Join in our ‘Tea and Talk’ event
Tea & Talk is an opportunity for service users to get together with a brew for a chat about their mental health. Mental health problems are very common and affect one in four of us, yet some people are still reluctant to talk about them. Just having a conversation about mental health can help to make things easier, and also break down the silence and stigma around the subject.
We have put together some information to help you facilitate a Tea and Talk at your service. This includes a poster to put up at your service, invites to hand out, a Guide to hosting your Tea and Talk, a number of icebreakers to start off your event and mental health conversation starters.
We have also put together some Top Tips for keeping mentally healthy. You can give these out in our Tea and Talk event and also have them available at your service for staff and service users.
Don’t forget to let us know when you are hosting your Tea and Talk events and how they went: email@example.com
