Weekend Group Support Volunteer
Are you a reliable and friendly individual who is looking to volunteer some of your time in the local community?
The group support role will facilitate a social engagement session alongside one of our recovery navigators. You will involve planning and preparation of the group activities and facilitating activities alongside a member of the staff team. Where appropriate volunteers will have the opportunity to take the lead role in the planning and facilitation of group activities. Activities can be varied and may involve supporting in social groups, creative/therapeutic activities or activities focused on promoting positive mental health and wellbeing. Where possible group activities will be adjusted to meet the needs of the individuals taking part.
Volunteers will be responsible for welcoming individuals into the session, encouraging them to engage in the activity and supporting in the facilitation of the activity. Volunteers will gain hands on experience of supporting individuals with mental health needs and the reward of seeing individuals engage and benefit from the activity.
Suggested Time Commitment: 2 hours per week at a consistent date and time
To support you in your role you will be offered training and regular supervision with an assigned supervisor. You will also be given a reference to support any future applications for work or voluntary positions.
