We have a fantastic new volunteer role located in the Wandsworth area. We are looking for an Arts Club Volunteer to attend our service on a weekly basis, we can be flexible on the day you visit but we would prefer an afternoon session. As part of your role you will prepare and deliver in house art activities including painting, collaging, and clay modelling. You will think creatively, make sure that all activities are accessible and engaging, and work with staff to ensure we have the right materials.

You will also help to organise and facilitate regular trips to the amazing local art galleries and museums that London has to offer. You will ensure that Service Users are involved in the planning process such as researching which gallery to visit, travel plans and what exhibitions are currently showing. On the trips you will use public transport, guide the groups attendees around the exhibitions and lead the groups discussion on the artwork and museum collections you have all seen.

This role is a great way to gain or develop existing group facilitation and coordinator skills.

Arts and crafts group:

  • Set up the room for arts and crafts activities, including moving tables and chairs if necessary.
  • Prepare refreshments.
  • Plan and prepare for sessions, making sure we have the right materials and that the activity is accessible to all.
  • Work together with the group to decide on the types of arts and crafts they’d like to try.
  • Deliver the arts and crafts sessions, explaining instructions to the group, offering guidance and assistance when asked.
  • Tidy away at the end of the session.

Art Galleries and Museum Trips:

  • Discuss as a group and decide which galleries and museums to visit.
  • Plan the visit, including times and dates, which exhibitions to see, and transport routes to take.
  • Guide the group on the day using public transport to visit and enjoy the exhibitions.
  • Ensure Health and Safety guidance is followed.

Report any safeguarding issues to staff.
