Creative Football Double Award Winners
We are so proud to announce that Creative Football have recently won two incredible awards which recognise their fantastic achievements and hard work.
The Lancashire Football Association have awarded Creative Football the Grassroots Project of the Year for their incredible work providing wellbeing services to support adults with a range of needs. Established in 2012, the league offers competitive football for community groups and individuals affected by mental health issues, substance misuse, homelessness, unemployment and social isolation. They currently have three staff and fifty volunteers, and since their launch have supported over 800 players. Paul Hardman, who manages Creative Football, said: “Receiving this award is wonderful news, I am delighted that the efforts of the team over the last year have been recognised by the FA.”
Creative Football are also recipients of the Lancashire FA Red Rose Awards. This award specifically honours their response during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the past year and a half, the organisation delivered care packages to local communities, organised regular zoom sessions and arranged for members to attend mental health online courses. They adapted their sessions at short notice to meet the ever-changing government advice, offering one-to-one sessions and even turning to walking and cycling when football was not permitted. They provided a wonderful and consistent level of support to the people they help.
Since restrictions have eased, Creative Football has been able to re-commence their group sessions in Blackburn, Darwen, Langho and Burnley, with aspirations to launch sessions in Accrington and Rossendale, and additional sessions for the Girls United team.
Creative Football’s accolades are incredible and speak to the truly inspirational work that the team do. A huge congratulations to all the people involved, it is truly well deserved.
