If I am interested in a position, how do I apply?
For some positions you can download a full job description and application form from this website on our Job Vacancies Board, otherwise you can request a Job Pack via our Request a Job Pack Form , via email at recruitment@creativesupport.co.uk or via our automated Recruitment Line on 0161 237 1014. Complete the application in regards to the post you are applying for and return it to the address indicated. The application form can be downloaded from this site, and can be completed by hand and returned to us by post or typed and returned via email.

Do I need to complete all sections of the application form?
All sections of the application form must be completed to the best of your ability. Don’t forget to provide a full history of your career to date, to tell us why you want the job and how your skills and experience match the job specification.

Can I apply online?
For some positions you can download the relevant information from our Job Vacancies Board. Please follow the instructions on returning your application form in the Job Description download for the position.

Can I send you my CV?
Creative Support does not accept CV’s as a form of application. You must complete a Creative Support Application Form. You may attach a CV if you wish.

Can I apply for more than one vacancy?
You may apply for multiple posts within a single application; however you must meet the criteria of each of the posts, as detailed in the job specifications.

What qualifications are needed?
This is dependent upon the position you apply for and the criterion on the job specification. Your existing qualification level will be assessed in addition to your experience.

Am I too old?
Creative Support is an equal opportunities employer and recruits applicants on the basis of ability with no upper age limit imposed.

I have a criminal conviction, am I still eligible to work for you?
All offers of employment made by Creative Support are subject to a standard or an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check dependent upon the position applied for. We look at any history of criminal convictions carefully. The nature of the conviction will be assessed on a post by post and applicant by applicant basis. Our duty of care to protect vulnerable service users is paramount.

Can I apply if I don’t have a work permit?
You must have a valid work permit, where required, to work within Creative Support. It is your responsibility to provide evidence of the work permit in line with current Home Office guidelines.

What is the selection process?
This is dependent upon the post applied for and is specified in the application pack. Typically, for a Support Worker role: when we receive applications they are short listed by the relevant senior manager. If you are successful at this stage, you are invited to a group interview, after which, if successful, you are invited to an individual interview (some posts do not require a group interview). If you are successful at the individual interview, you are then offered a post within Creative Support, subject to receipt of satisfactory pre-employment checks.

Are there any checks I need to go through before being employed?
All successful applicants are required to provide: 2 references (one of which should be from your most recent employer), health/criminal declaration and DBS certificate. Typically, receipt of an enhanced DBS Certificate takes between 6 – 8 weeks.

How long does the recruitment process take?
If you are successful at interview, the time required to process an application is dependent upon the receipt of satisfactory pre-employment checks. These include: 2 references (one of which should be from your most recent employer), health/criminal declaration, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate. Typically, receipt of an enhanced DBS Certificate takes between 6 – 8 weeks. All pre-employment details have to be checked and endorsed by a senior member of personnel.

If English is not my first language, will I need to take an English test?
Applicants are not required to complete a formal English test, however a good level of verbal and written English is required.

If I am unsuccessful, can you give me feedback?
By contacting our Human Resources department, unsuccessful applicants are able to receive positive feedback on their application.

How many hours do I need to work?
Full time permanent positions are typically 37.5 hours per week; part time permanent hours are variable dependent upon the conditions of the post but with a minimum level set at 15 hours per week. Flexibility may be required in regards to working hours, according to the needs of the service. We also consider applicants for relief and sessional support worker positions (hours as and when required).

Will I get training?
Training is provided for all posts by Creative Support via our internal Training Department. All new employees providing direct support undertake our corporate induction programme for learning disability services or mental health services. We also provide modular mental health courses, the Learning Disability Qualification (LDQ), and NVQ levels II, III and IV in care, as well as a range of internal training courses. The courses each employee attends is dependent upon the qualifications and experience they already have, the position they hold and the needs of the service they work in. Where will training take place?
The location of training courses will be confirmed in advance of attendance. Our corporate training may be provided at one of our regional offices, or at our Head Office in central Manchester, or at an accessible external site. Each regional office has a separate training calendar which states the location of training.

When do I get paid?
The date of payment depends on whether an employee is weekly or monthly paid and you will be notified of your pay date during your induction. Weekly paid staff are paid every Friday whilst our monthly paid staff are paid on the 23rd of each month (or earlier if this falls on a week-end or bank holiday.)

Do I need a car and a driving licence?
This is dependent upon the position for which you have applied and will be detailed within the Job Specification.

Will you hold my details on file until a suitable vacancy arises?
Creative Support is unable to assess previous applications with regard to new positions.
