Position Categories: Full Time, new, North West, Older People, Voluntary

Location: Stockport, Greater Manchester, North West

Salary: Voluntary

Closing Date: 15 August 2018

Short Job Description:

About the Service: Creative Support’s Extra Care services promote choice, dignity, respect, privacy and security. Our staff teams work to enhance each service user’s quality of life, personal safety and mental and physical wellbeing by working closely with other agencies, family members and the service user.

The activity sessions are designed to reduce levels of social isolation, teach new skills and build on existing skills, and boost levels of confidence and self-esteem. We encourage our service users to access events and activities held at our services to increase social inclusion.

Purpose of the role: As a Volunteer Activity Assistant you will assist and support the Activity Coordinator in running of Arts and Crafts within the Extra Care Services. You will help with planning crafts around themed events, such as Easter and Christmas, and you will work closely with the residents to make sure that they are involved and enjoy the activities you help to provide. You will also help the Activity Coordinator with the preparation and tidy up of the activity sessions.

While volunteering you will build relationships with the residents and involve them with decision making for arts and crafts ideas. This will include creating conversations and discussions around present and future projects they would like to do.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to gain confidence in supporting and facilitating a group of people. You will also gain experience of volunteering in a health and social care environment and build meaningful and playful, professional relationships with vulnerable adults.
