Short Job Description:

Do you have the commitment and positive values to make a difference to the lives of people living in a supported living service in Middleton, South Leeds?
Creative Support is a non-profit organisation which provides high quality person centred social care services for people with learning disabilities, mental health and other support needs. Our supported living service in Leeds is accredited by the National Autism Society and works within the SPELL Framework to provide a skilled and bespoke service to people on the autistic spectrum. We provide specialist person-centred support to 17 Adults with Autistic Spectrum conditions and additional learning disabilities and mental health support needs.
The post of relief worker is a flexible contract that enables you to select when and where you work. This gives you flexibility and doesn’t have the constraints of a fixed rota. This flexible working would particularly suit students, parents, people with other work commitments, and those looking to gain valuable experience in the social care sector.

As a relief worker you will be joining supportive teams of friendly, professional and established support workers at the service. We are looking for calm, resourceful and enthusiastic individuals who are highly motivated, hardworking and adaptable to varying supportive environments.

You will provide person-centered care and support to tenants enabling them to take part in all aspects of every day life and enjoy a wide range of activities. You will have skills in positive communication and engagement and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the people we support. You will have the maturity to be able to work within a positive behaviour support framework, to accept responsibility and to grow in confidence as a skilled practitioner. You must be able to follow agreed guidelines and to work positively within a consistent and mutually supportive team.
You must be willing to actively embrace all aspects of the role including support with personal care and domestic tasks as well as social engagement and community activities such as walking, swimming and going to the gym. The ability to support people with a wide range of presenting needs is essential. Prior experience in this field of work is beneficial, although not a substitute for an engaging, creative and person centred approach. We will value the personal skills and interests you bring to the role and to the lives of service users, such as sports, creative arts, music and cooking.
This role offers unique and challenging opportunities bringing great job satisfaction to those who are looking to make a positive difference to the lives of others. You will receive full training and mentoring to develop your understanding of Autism and Autism support provision. We will also provide additional training specific to the individual needs of service users you are supporting.
