Short Job Description:

About the Service: Halton Lodge is a 66-bedded homeless service located in Runcorn. The service, which is managed by Creative Support, provides outcome-focused support to adults (including young adults who are 16 and 17) with a range of support needs including mental health related needs, substance misuse issues, physical health related conditions, learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum conditions and people with an offending history.

The service provides short-term accommodation, with the aim of enabling service users to develop the necessary skills and confidence to find and sustain accommodation in the local community. Alongside the structured support we provide, we also run a monthly activity timetable for our clients, offering a range of opportunities including health and wellbeing related activities, basic skills classes and social opportunities.

We are currently recruiting for a range of voluntary positions to complement the work we do at the service. Halton Lodge boasts a range of facilities on-site including activity spaces, a catering kitchen and café, two fully-equipped music rooms and a gym. Halton Lodge also has a large garden space, perfect for group activities. We are also keen to run activities and provide opportunities outside of the service.

Purpose of the role: We are committed to providing opportunities for our clients to engage in beneficial activities and learn new skills. Using our on-site catering kitchen and café area, we have recently launched a weekly Breakfast Club with the aim of providing low cost breakfasts for our residents, with all proceeds going back into the service to fund further activities for our service users.

We are looking for enthusiastic, approachable Volunteer Breakfast Club Assistants to support the Activities and Engagement Worker in the day-to-day running of our new Breakfast Club. You will greet customers, prepare and service food and support residents who help in the Breakfast Club to develop their skills, confidence and wellbeing. We will provide successful applicants Food Safety in Catering (Level 2 Award) & Infection Control training to support them in their role.

Suggested Time Commitment: We ask that applicants are able to commit to 3 hours each week to support the Breakfast Club, otherwise the role is flexible.
