Short Job Description:

About the Service: Our Extra Care services provide structured and outcome-focused support to many different individuals with varying needs living in Bromley, Greater London. The Regency Court service supports clients with a range of needs including older people, and people with dementia, physical disabilities and mental health related needs.

Purpose of the role: Befriending provides an invaluable service for people who are experiencing or are at risk of social isolation. We provide support to some of the most vulnerable people in society, who often face insurmountable barriers to accessing the local community. As a befriender you will support our clients through offering one-to-one support someone’s home, their service or out in the local community with the aim of increasing their self-esteem, confidence and motivation. The role can be as simple as sitting with a service user for an hour, providing an opportunity for them to speak to someone outside of their paid support network

Suggested Time Commitment: The service is provided predominately during the hours of 9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday – Friday, although there will be some opportunities to volunteer outside of these hours. Hours should be agreed with the volunteer manager beforehand, and there is an expectation that you will give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend.
