Short Job Description:

About the Service: Creative Support’s services in Liverpool provide support to people with learning disabilities and mental health needs. We aim to provide a supportive environment where people of all ages are encouraged and enabled to achieve their full potential as individuals and inclusive citizens in their own communities.

Purpose of the role: We are looking for a Volunteer Befriender to provide companionship to one of our sociable, enthusiastic, service users and accompany him to activities in the local community. He enjoys sport and likes to play tennis, table tennis, snooker and pool. In addition to sports he also likes to spend time watching films, tennis tournaments and is partial to watching quiz shows and game shows in the afternoon.

As a befriender, you might join him in one of the activities mentioned above or simply just have a chat over a cup of tea. The main purpose of a befriender is to promote social inclusion and encourage our service users to improve their social and community networks. As part of your role you may also support the service user to find new activities and groups relevant to his interests or try something new.

Suggested Time Commitment: 2 hours per week – preferably on a Sunday afternoon and/or Thursday afternoon.
