Short Job Description:

Creative Support is a national not-for-profit organisation which provides care and support to people with a wide range of needs including learning disabilities, autism spectrum conditions, mental health needs, and older people. Rose Buddies is a learning disability community service aimed at adults with little to no statutory support services; therefore our services reduce their need for more regular support. Our support can include assistance with paperwork, daily life skills and social skills.

Rose Buddies offers a number of weekly community drop-ins in and around Wokingham. Some of these are focused drop-ins, including a puzzle drop-in, doodle drop-in, an evening social drop-in and cooking sessions. We also have a newsletter group and allotment group, in addition to one off workshops and day trips. Volunteers play an important part in these sessions as they allow our members to meet different people and to learn new skills.

As a Volunteer Activity Assistant you will help facilitate the preparation and delivery of activity sessions, drop-ins and workshops for the Rose Buddies members. There may also be a number of one off events and day trips that you could participate in.

As well as providing support to the staff member leading the session you will ensure those attending the session get the most out of the activity.

We are seeking people with an empathetic, non-judgemental approach who will be able to develop trusting relationships with members. You will play a crucial role in enabling members to develop their self-esteem and daily living skills.

We would recommend applicants are available to volunteer two to three hours each week between 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday.

Applicants must submit a completed Creative Support application form which can be requested or downloaded via the listed methods. You may attach a CV if you wish to support your application but CVs alone will not be accepted. An enhanced DBS check is required, which Creative Support pays for. Creative Support is not a recruitment sourcing agency; all employees are directly employed by us. We do not accept contact from recruitment candidate sourcing/advertising agencies. Upon receipt of your application we will email you a confirmation of receipt. If you do not receive this confirmation email please contact us via telephone or email. Contact information can be found on our company website. Please note applications will be shortlisted as they are received and we may contact you before the closing date to arrange an interview.
