Short Job Description:

About the Service: Breakthrough is a drop in centre, based in Manchester City Centre, for people with mental health needs, learning disabilities and other support needs. Our facilities include a cafe, lots of activity sessions, tuition, computers, parties, events and trips.
We are open five days a week, with a tempting selection of freshly prepared meals, available for both Breakthrough members and Creative Support staff. Located in the city centre, it’s the perfect place to take a break from the busy bustle and enjoy a cup of tea and take in the friendly atmosphere. Open from 10am until 4pm our Cyber Cafe also hosts four computers with Internet access for members to browse the web and hone their IT skills. We also run weekend trips and evening events.
Purpose of the role: We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual to assist with activity sessions at our city centre service. This exciting role provides the opportunity to assist with a calendar of activities such as Art, Knit Sew & Mend, Ceramics, Drama and Members Meetings.
As a Volunteer Activity Assistant you will enable our service users to enjoy the therapeutic aspect of doing arts, crafts, drama and other activities. You will also give them the opportunity to make creative outputs that they can be proud of and most importantly, have some fun!
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a specific skill or interest to gain confidence supporting and facilitating a group of people. You will also gain experience of working in a health and social care environment and building meaningful and fun relationships with our service users.
Suggested Time Commitment: We would like volunteers to commit to about 2 hours per week. Volunteer shifts will take place between 9:00am-4:00pm Monday – Friday.
