Short Job Description:

About the Service: Halton Lodge is a 66-bedded homeless service located in Runcorn. The service, which is managed by Creative Support, provides outcome-focused support to adults (including young adults who are 16 and 17) with a range of support needs including mental health related needs, substance misuse issues, physical health related conditions, learning disabilities and/or autism spectrum conditions and people with a history of offending.

The service provides short-term accommodation, with the aim of enabling service users to develop the necessary skills and confidence for finding and sustaining accommodation in the local community. Alongside the structured support we provide, we also run a monthly activity timetable for our clients offering a range of opportunities including health and wellbeing related activities, basic skills classes and social opportunities.

We are currently recruiting for a range of voluntary positions to complement the work our staff do at the service. Halton Lodge boasts a range of facilities on-site including activity spaces, a catering kitchen and café, two fully-equipped music rooms and a gym. Halton Lodge also has a large garden space, perfect for group activities. We are also keen to run activities and provide opportunities outside of the service.

Purpose of the role: Creative Support is committed to providing opportunities for our clients to engage in beneficial activities and to learn new skills. The service has seen significant investment in its music facilities and we would like to draw upon volunteer skills to get the most out of these facilities. We are lucky to have two fully equipped music rooms containing recording facilities, numerous guitars, keyboards, a drum-kit and a number of other instruments at our disposal. We are currently working in partnership with Crisis who are facilitating a music workshop once a week. The volunteer role could involve assisting with these workshops or delivering your own sessions.

You don’t need to be an experienced musician to do this role, you just need to have an interest in music and the ability to inspire and teach beginners. You will have a genuine desire to promote learning in adults with various support needs and who may lack confidence.

Suggested Time Commitment: We would suggest applicants are able to commit to 2 hours of volunteering per week – however availability can be discussed at interview stage.
