Short Job Description:

Creative Support is a non-profit organisation which provides high quality person centred social care services for people with learning disabilities, mental health and other needs. Our Amersham Road service in Middlesbrough offers supported living for adults with a range of support needs, such as a learning disability, mental health need or a physical and sensory impairment.
Our tenants are supported with household management, learning independence and life skills and social inclusion. In order to continue to improve the emotional and psychological wellbeing of our tenants, we are looking to recruit Volunteer Befriender’s who can provide companionship and reduce social isolation.
The purpose of the Volunteer Befriender role is to enable service users to engage more with their service and their local community, and promoting social inclusion. As a Befriender, you will have excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to build relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds. Through the support you offer as a Volunteer Befriender you will increase the confidence of our service users and promote their independence. This may involve helping service users to organising social events and activities within the service or sourcing meaningful activities within the community.
We would suggest a time commitment of one morning each week, but this can be discussed with your supervisor during the volunteer interview.
