The Power of Music
Tony is a regular contributor to our Creative Life magazine. Every week, he hosts Tony’s Time Machine on LDOK, an inclusive online radio station. In this blog post, he tells us about his experience over the last two years.
January 2014 – After short trial runs of 1 hour per month, Tony’s Time Machine was born.
The show started out with just me, sharing music and stories. Over the last two years, I have gradually built this up, and I now host guests most weekends, as well as booking them up for months ahead. Guests have included everything from Creative Support service users, trustees, and board members to athletes, health professionals and friends. We have also had various musicians, singers and songwriters on the show. More recently, the show has brought some fantastic rewards, including the donation of approximately 400 vinyl singles from the 50s – 80s period, and a fully working 1959 jukebox!
Hopefully, with the inclusions of poems written especially for the Time Machine by Harriet Blackbury, the show is going from strength to strength.
Listen to LDOK.net radio to enjoy great music and experience the Jukebox sound over the coming weeks.
Tony’s Time Machine is live on air every Wednesday, 11am to 1pm, with repeats Thursday 8am to Friday at 1am, Saturday at 6pm.
