Service User Achievement Award – September 2013 Winners Announced!

Congratulations to Christopher, September’s Service User Achievement Award winner. He was nominated by Adam, a member of staff at our Darlington Physical & Sensory Impairment service, who said:

“Unfortunately, Chris was recently targeted by pickpockets whilst out with friends and had his mobile phone stolen. As a result of the support he has been receiving, Chris had the confidence to contact the police which is something he wouldn’t have felt able to do previously. He even went one step further and had his story printed in the local newspaper as he wanted to highlight how people with disabilities may be targeted by thieves to prevent others being victimised. Chris is truly deserving of an award for having the courage to speak up and help raise awareness of this issue.”

Other highly commended nominees in September included Phyllis who is now living independently, Jackie who has completed Creative Support’s quit smoking scheme and donated her reward money to charity, Alan who helped an elderly man to avoid an accident, and Kirsty who has impressed her support workers by growing in confidence.

If you’d like to make a nomination for next month’s Service User Achievement Awards, please complete this form and return it to our Head Office. For more information, call Lois Peacock on 0161 236 0829 or email
