North East Sports Day 2013
On Thursday 25th July Creative Support’s North East services held a sports day and summer fair. Over 180 service users and staff attended the event in Middlesbrough at Acklam Grange School.
The event received funding from Creative Support and also worked in partnership with Tees Valley Sports in receiving a grant from the Community Games project.
The day began with an opening ceremony, in which nominated participants completed a flag relay with a banner that had been created for the day. Competitors then took part in a number of events competing for Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in running events and field events such as long jump, shot putt and javelin. This was followed by fun games such as an egg and spoon race and a three-legged race. Throughout the day there were a number of stalls including hook-a-duck, splat the rat, hoopla and crafts, cakes, a tombola and raffle.
The day was a great success and over £400 was raised. This money will go to fund further activities and the North East aims to make the Sports Day and Summer Fair an annual event. Take a look at a gallery of photos from the event below:
