Comic Relief 2013

Comic Relief is a British charity founded in 1985 by the scriptwriter Richard Curtis and comedian Lenny Henry.

The main event of the Comic Relief’s appeal is Red Nose Day which usually occurs on the second or third Friday in March. Its aim is to bring about a positive and lasting change in the lives of poor and disadvantagedpeople.

Comic Relief and Red Nose Day help people in the UK by raising money to spend on giving shelters to young people living on the streets and protection to those living in domestic abuse. Also the money Comic Relief raises saves thousands in Africa from malaria and provides whole communities with fresh water and life saving vaccines.

Each year Red Nose Day is broadcast live on BBC One with many celebrities and presenters taking part in activities live to raise as much money as they can for Comic Relief. This year Red Nose Day is on Friday 15th March. Lots of people like to get involved in Red Nose Day such as actors, comedians and singers. Singer Jessie J will be shaving her head in an effort to raise money for Red Nose Day, also well known British boy band One Direction have recorded a charity single to raise money for this great cause.

I am looking forward to watching Comic Relief tomorrow to see all the great work that goes towards raising money for such good causes.

Will you be holding your own event to help raise money for Comic Relief?
