Breakthrough DJ Sessions
In January, Creative Support’s Breakthrough service won £37.73 from the Manchester Evening News’ Wish Campaign. Our dedicated service users and staff collected a fantastic 1,564 tokens to raise funds and buy some new supplies for the service.
After careful consideration, the money has been put towards running new DJ skills sessions. Support worker Matthew – who is also a professional DJ and producer – has been holding the sessions and teaching service users how to use the decks, mix songs and entertain an audience.
Matt used the money from the Wish Campaign to hire a UV light and buy UV paints and accessories to create an authentic atmosphere during the sessions. The workshops proved to be very popular, with several service users trying their hands at DJing and many more enjoying the music.
Matt is currently using his own equipment during the sessions, but Breakthrough are hoping to fundraise and purchase their own DJ equipment to allow service users to practice their new skills.
With so many service users having a go on the decks, Matt is hoping that the group could host their own club night in the future and showcase their talents. Watch out David Guetta!
