The Countdown to Christmas Begins!

It might seem early, but our Christmas plans are already well underway, and they have been for weeks!

One of our main projects for the Yuletide season is the annual Creative Support calendar, and we aim to get it just right.

For many years now the Creative Support calendar has been our most popular publication. Each month has a different photograph, drawing, sculpture or painting submitted by one of our service users. The calendar demonstrates just how creative and talented many of our service users are.

Normally we hold a calendar competition. This year, however, we held the art exhibition (mentioned in previous posts), and the art submitted into the exhibition automatically became a part of the calendar competition.

Throughout the exhibitions we asked attendees to point out their favourite pieces of work – visit our Youtube page ( to watch a film on the art exhibitions and hear some of their answers! From this we agreed the 12 favourites for the magazine.

Claire Croskery, one of our Marketing Officers, has been busy designing the template for the magazine for the past month. She then passes it over to the rest of the marketing team, and we argue over what size font should be, what month a picture should be appointed to, and whether there is too much blue on one page – we can be very pedantic when we want to be! But it is really important to us that the calendar looks as good as it possibly can, as people will be looking at it every month for the entire year!

The final calendar has been completed today, will be sent off for professional print, and will hopefully be ready for distribution by the beginning of December! Keep an eye out on your project mail from December to find out which pictures were chosen, or email to be sent a calendar.

I have a copy of the 2015 calendar, brilliant art work. It is lovely to turn over a new page each month.
