World Mental Health Day 2012
Wednesday 10th October is World Mental Health Day and our services are holding events and activities around the country to commemorate the occasion.
The aim of World Mental Health Day is to raise public awareness about mental health issues. The day promotes open discussion of mental disorders, and investments in prevention, promotion and treatment services. This year the theme for the day is ‘Depression: A Global Crisis’.
In North Lincolnshire we will be distributing this poster to local GPs and encouraging them to improve the services they offer to mental health patients, as well as exploring ways to reduce the impact of depression including massage, relaxation and nutrition.
Our Choices for Life service is joining forces with a range of other organisations in the area at an event called Hartlepool’s Beautiful Mind. Activities on offer include music, guest speakers, yoga, reiki and shiatsu.
In Birmingham we’re organising a community art project and an event featuring health checks, henna painting, a performance from local band Carlo, and other attractions.
And the Creative Support Art Exhibition will be visiting Reading as part of a day of entertainment.
