Community Grant Roundup – June
This month we awarded two Community Involvement Grants and 17 Gardening Grants. We also provided a total of £8525 to help 48 projects to organise parties in honour of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. “To celebrate the start of summer, service users and staff at Balshaw Avenue hosted a fun-filled party in their garden. Guests at the event enjoyed a petting zoo courtesy of Fishers Mobile Farm, as well as a variety of games, a raffle, face painting and a buffet.
Everyone at the party really enjoyed meeting the animals – a calf, a goat, three sheep and two piglets – and even got the opportunity to feed the sheep and take Betty the goat for a walk around the garden. After spending time with the animals, guests took part in traditional games such as hook-a-duck, and competed in an egg and spoon race. At the end of the day, every guest took home a special prize from the raffle.”
Registered Manager Sharon Duxbury, who organised the garden party, said:
“It was lovely to see everyone smiling and having such a good time. I particularly enjoyed watching people feeding the lambs from the mobile farm! Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make the day such a success.”
Carol Pope, a guest at the garden party, said:
“I loved seeing the animals, so thanks to everyone who organised the party. It was fantastic!”
