Proud at Pride
Creative Support’s second year at Manchester Pride was a fun-filled and fabulous affair! Service users and staff came together to decorate our first ever float; turning a 7.5 tonne truck into a teenager’s bedroom, with posters on the wall and rainbow bedding. The transformation didn’t stop there, as each of the participants went through their own metamorphosis – where once was Wayne, now emerged Ginger Spice, Jill was there to fight for this love as alter ego Cheryl Cole, Tasha felt the groove and found her soul as Janet Jackson, David had faith in George Michael and Suzanne discovered that sometimes blondes really do have more fun, as Madonna, to name but a few. And what would a teenage bedroom be without MUSIC! The truck was literally rockin’ to the iconic tunes and everybody’s dance moves.
Although the heavens opened in the morning, as the parade started the skies cleared and the sun warmed the awaiting crowds! Our very own tangerine dream, Alison, safely drove us along the route, with trusty wing man, Gerry, aka the cool and collected construction worker from The Village People, ready to lend a hand! The crowds cheered, cameras flashed and everyone sang along and danced to the music! A fantastic time was had by all.
And at the end of the day, everyone agreed that it was brilliant, but also, that it has to be even bigger and better next year!
It was a really amazing experience!

I loved how everyone got into the spirit of the day – our float was definitely one of the liveliest and most fun! Thanks to everyone for getting involved, I’m looking forward to next year already!
