This week is Volunteers’ Week from the 1st to the 7th June. It is celebrated annually to raise awareness of the excellent work that volunteers do all over the world and to encourage people to become volunteers themselves.
Volunteers’ Week began in 1984 and has grown in size so that this year more people are taking part than ever before. People all over the United Kingdom offer their skills and support to benefit charities, causes, people and the community around them. Millions of people give their time selflessly to help others and it is important to recognise how hard they work. Volunteering is not all about giving, as most volunteers will tell you, they find it extremely rewarding and enjoy meeting new people, experiencing new activities, gaining new skills and having fun.
Take a look at our Volunteers’ Week flyers for more details on how to get involved and become a volunteer yourself.
