Silver Surfers Day – May 20th 2011
Silver Surfers Day is on Friday May 20th and to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this national campaign it has been turned into a week-long event, Spring Online. There will be activities and events throughout the country, all aiming to encourage as many older people as possible to develop skills and embrace the digital age.
To celebrate this amazing initiative, our Elkin Court service is bringing together the traditional and the modern with a 1950’s style tea party from 10am-1pm on Silver Surfers Day where people will be given an introduction to computing and shown the wonders of the worldwide web or helped to develop their existing skills and knowledge.
All Creative Support projects are encouraging older service users to get involved, as it could open up a whole new world for people to explore and who knows, you might be the next whizz kid … it all starts with a click!
If you are holding an event, please send us your photos and a report of the day so we can share it through our newsletter.
