Celebrating the Royal Wedding!
A day to remember! On Friday, 29th April Creative Support projects across the UK joined in the celebrations to mark the long-awaited royal wedding of William and Kate. Even the great British weather cooperated, with sunny skies brightening the day! This historical event brought people together in celebration and community and a great day was had by all.
Creative Support project, The Courtyard, invited service users and staff from nearby projects and Community Services to help them celebrate the day. More than 20 people enjoyed a barbeque, cakes and lots of good old cups of tea, with a selection of biscuits. Everyone was sure William would have thoroughly enjoyed the biscuits, although as he had a specially prepared cake that included his favourites, Rich Tea, they were happy he wasn’t missing out. The balcony scene was the moment you could have heard a pin drop, everyone went still and quiet waiting for that first kiss, cheered when it came, and cheered even louder when he broke with tradition to share a second kiss. Celebrations carried on throughout the day and everyone continued to wave their flags in support of the happy couple.
We’d like to say a big congratulations to William and Catherine, the new Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. We wish them all the best and happiness in the future!
Service users and staff at The Courtyard
What an amazing day! We were so happy not only to celebrate the wedding, but also for the Service User Involvement Grant. The Grant helped us to arrange our party and buy everything we needed to celebrate and enjoy the big day. It gave service users, including those here at The Courtyard and others from Community Services, the chance to get involved in the community and enjoy themselves. We can’t wait ‘til Harry gets married!
