Creative Support’s 5-a-side Football Tournament is back so put the date in your diary – Saturday 2 July 2011

That’s right, the Creative Support 5-a-side Football Tournament is back for the third year running! This year it’s bigger than ever, with 32 teams competing to win the cup or the plate so there’ll be games for everyone all day from 12-5pm.  There’s a change of location too – The Soccer Village in Milnrow, Rochdale, OL16 3TW will be hosting the action.  There will be a raffle on the day and all funds raised will be donated to CP Sport and Sport Relief.

Here’s how to get involved…

Enter a 5-a-side team

Make a team of 5 players or more including staff, service users, friends and family. Each team should have a minimum of two service users. If you would like to play but can’t find enough people for a whole team, get in touch with Gavin and he’ll be pleased to help you out! To sign up contact Gavin at head office on 0161 236 0829 or email gavin.worrall@creativesupport.co.uk.

13/05/2011 Update: The team fixture draw will be broadcast live on 8th June at 2pm on our live events page which is http://www.creativesupport.co.uk/live. Be sure not to miss it!

04/05/2011 Update: All 32 team slots are now filled. If you have a team who would like to play, we have a reserve list in case any teams have to pull out. To be put on the reserve list please contact Gavin. Individuals who would like to play should also contact Gavin who will check if any teams need additional players.

Volunteer to help on the day

If you are keen to be part of the action but don’t fancy your footwork, why not volunteer to be a steward on the day? You could help to organise teams and pitches, give directions and hand out programmes. You’ll get full training, lunch and a certificate. To volunteer as a steward, please contact Suzanne Morton on at head office on 0161 236 0829, or email suzanne.morton@creativesupport.co.uk.

And have a look at the fantastic facilities at The Soccer Village … nice!

Hello Colin. Thanks for your comment. I have updated the article so that the venue states Rochdale as it should. I’ve also notified Gavin and the Marketing Department regarding your request for an update about teams. I’m pretty sure there will be another news article soon listing the teams, once they have been finalised, though. In the meantime you could keep checking our website news section for updates.

Hi Colin. The draw for which side plays which is done “out of a hat” like the FA Cup, so it’ll be down to chance which teams you’ll be playing against.

I’m glad you’re looking forward to it. Every year it’s a great success, with everyone who attends having a lot of fun!

I’m sure the teams and groups will be posted on our website very soon. Just keep checking back on the news section.

Ah, Colin!! Lets hope you don’t get drawn against the mighty Blackburn Brasilia! We have entered another team this year called the Blackburn SISters. You may have a better chance against them! Are you still going to watch Altrincham? Northampton Town have had a terrible season but secured safety on saturday. See you at the Soccer Village!
